AVC Corp.'s custom thermoforming Servall Packaging division has "steady orderly growth" of about 20 percent this year and is considering equipment
additions, said Wayne Cohen, vice president of sales.AVC acquired Servall Packaging Industries in May 1998 and consolidated operations in a Torrance, California, facility within four months. Servall
ranked 69th in Plastic News' most recent survey of North America's thermoformers with 1998 sales of $8.45 million. Cohen declined to quantify sales for privately held AVC. |

The Servall division has 11 thermoforming machines, and "we are considering some upgrades or replacement," Cohen said. Also, the operation
plans to add to its radio-frequency sealing equipment, now numbering more than 40 units. |

AVC employs a total of 150 and operates an on-site labor office that can add another 150 workers during the course of a shift to meet assembly and fulfillment
needs.AVC also has units that duplicate audio and videotapes, manufacture various business binders and supplies and provide prepress printing services. AVC occupies 100,000 square feet and has another 100,000
square feet nearby for storage of customer materials. "A distinct majority of the products we manufacture and the processes we use involved various kinds of plastics," Cohen said. |
